BIRDS OF GOD has been extended until 1 December! A unique feature of this exhibition is that the story of ‘the journey of the bird of paradise’ is told from three different perspectives: indigenous, colonial and mission. Due to great success, the exhibition has been extended. 

Please note: BIRDS OF GOD will not be open to the public on Sunday 1 September.

Step into the time capsule with a collection from 1879 onwards

The Mission Museum shows the missionaries' view of the world in their time. Learn more here

There is a huge collection to wonder at in this museum. Nowhere else is there like the real physical experience of encounter and resonance with museum artifacts. In the Mission Museum, for example, you can read, hear, see and discover information and stories in an independent way. There are two touchscreens in the museum. On one touch screen you will find information about the vision of the SVD congregation and the missionary work at the mission stations in the world. On the second touchscreen you will find information about monastic life here in Steyl. You can see QR codes on the display cases and text boards. Use your phone to read information and stories via the QR code. 

Cool indoor temperature
The Main Room has a lower temperature than all the other rooms. 

A souvenir
The Mission Museum has a small museum shop. End your visit to the museum with an original souvenir. There are colourful umbrellas and unique souvenirs for sale.
